I know everyone sees this problem...but my z/28 gets like 14 miles to the gallon. My biggest flaw with the car is probably 3:73 gears in the rear end but I'm still skeptical. I've done all the usual- tune-up, air filter, fuel filter, tire pressure, etc. I noticed my temperature gauge never goes over 170 so I suspect an aftermarket thermostat. Let me know if anyone has any additional suggestions, or if this all sounds normal.

Where do you do most of your driving? 14 in the city with 3.73's (especially if it's an auto) doesn't sound too unreasonable. 14 on the highway isn't good.

 

yeah 14 on both city and highway, although mostly city. I was on the highway the other day 1 1/2 hr both ways and got around 23-24. I guess I'm just complainin...gas just went up to 3.75 for premium where I am!

 

Dude I don't think its the gears especially if you drive mostly on the highway. I have a 3.90:1 ratio and I get 21 mpg. I do have a M6 though and my time on the highway and city is split 50/50

 

stock they only get 17 city and 24 high way

 

When I bought mine I had to drive it 400 mi home and got 25mpg. Now that she's home I usually pull 14-16mpg with a 6spd

when mine was completely stock with 130k and 3.23s i was getting 28 on the highway, im not sure about now

 

The M6 means " Manual 6-speed " I get about 21 mpg and its about 60/40, mostly city. I have 3:42 gears, stock of course.
