I tried to do a search on gas mileage and didn't find any one area that listed what most get. I thought a poll might be helpful since it would give everyone a chance to put all that information in one spot for people to find in the future.

What do you get? You might want to leave a note about if it is in town, highway, or combination of both. Don't forget to check which engine you have also.

 

yeah i have a 01 3.8 slp rs and i dont even think i get 17. its pretty bad. and im in highschool so i drive it to and from there everyday. its only about 2 miles round trip but still..

 

3.8, and I average 24 mpg.

 

yeah somethin must be wrong with my car then. it drinks gas. and its not like i ever floor it or anything

 

I get 22 MPG driving to and from my high school and home, with my 2000 3.8. About a 10 mile 15 minute drive mostly on winding two lane roads and hills and what not. I use to put in 89 octane mid grade gas only, but after I did some research on those "100 Octane" threads I only put in 87 octane regular now. I get my gas from either Mobil, Chevron, Shell, and 76, and paid $3.27 a gallon for regular at Mobil on Monday.

 

Ialso drive a 97RS andI dont get that good of gas mileage...what shouldI do to fix that??

Check the spark plugs andair filter. Replace if dirty. A new fuel filter wouldn't hurt, if it hasn't been changed in a long time.

 

I have a LT1 and I usually average about 20 MPG (that's combined city and highway). I can (on a very rare occasion) get close to 25 if I don't take it above 2200 RPM when accelerating. Then again there have been times where I've probably been averaging close to 14 because I've been redlining it at every light (but I've stopped doing that for the most part). I have the six speed which has some pretty tall gearing in the later gears so I can just idle around at 45-50 MPH which helps a lot with gas mileage.

By checking the spark plugs shoud I just go get a tune-up....I really dont know when the last time one was done because the guy who had it before I did didnt give me any of the paperwork for it....
