gas mileage???
Hello everyone,
So here is my situation. Im planning on doing alot of commuting in the near future. I love camaros, would love to own one. wondering what people are getting on the highway. I do understand its how you drive the car and i do plan on driving for gas mileage when i am commuting but i want a camaro well for the reason most people do. Is there a difference in the mpg between the lt1 and the ls1. input would be very helpful

A lot also depends on what the car has for gears and tires,I have tall highway 2.73's in my '93Z with stock size 245's on the back for tires and slightly skinnier 225's up front.
The engine is all stock, just a Flowmaster catback muffler, the car is lowered 2" so that probably helps a little, anyway I can pull 29+mpg at 65-70 mph on the highway.
I'll take that all day long over driving some anemic 40mpg 4 banger crackerbox.

they are similar. a stock lt1/ls1 camaro should get over 25 mpg. not all do so if u are buying ask if u can take it for a cruse and see what the mileage is. it is a good indicator on how the car is running and if the systems are operating right.

These 5.7 Chevys either LT or LS have a lot of low end grunt and the A4 trans has a good low first gear,it's more like a turbo 350 3 speed auto with an overdrive added than a 4 speed.
My car will easily smoke the tires (posi) in first and keep 'em turning into second gear.
1/4 mile time should be right about 14.00 flat and a top speed of........
......well faster than I want to go.
It lopes along at 65mph on low end torque only turning about 1800rpm,that's why it gets such good mileage.
I get about the same gas mileage as the wife's '05 mustang with a V6 and 5 speed auto.
