Default Floor jack placement

would like to get my 2001 up on 4 jackstands. Is there a preferred placement front and rear for the floor jack?

I have a low clearance jack. Only needs 2 3/8 inches clearance to get it under a car.

DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT lift the car on the front fender's pinch weld!!!! That is not a true pinch weld and will not support the weight of the car. Just behind the fender the pinch weld is more than strong enough, it is part of the rocker. If you can lift the car with the K-member or diff. As for jack stand placement this is going to depend on what you are about to do to the car. If you are going to work on the suspension then at the corners of the rockers is fine, use a piece of wood to spread out the load, again stay away from the front fenders. If you are not working on the suspension or need to remove the K-member then use the diff and control arms or K-member.

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS check to see that the vehicle is secure on the stands before going under, and check periodicly through the job as well.

When i bought the car the right front fender was sticking out at the bottom rear. Most likely from being jacked at that point. The sheet metal where the fender bolts on was bent out. I unbolted it, straightened the metal and realigned the fender.

I guees I've gotten spoiled by Honda. They put a front and rear jack point on their cars.

I always stick my front one's on the front frame and the rears on the frame next to the lower control arms.

should be a hard plastic pad to the back of the front tires just inside the pinch weld. i use that to get the front up enough to get the floor jack under the k member. then i put a jack stand under that side of the k member, where the lower control arm connects. then roll i the floor jack under the center of the k member and jack er up till i can get jack stands under the plastic pads on each side. then lower till jack is not supporting anything then jack it back up to make connection and hold a little weight. i never trust any one thing to insure i dont get squished.

Those pads are not Jack points either, even data do not Jack here. The later models don't even have those.
