Fiberglass hood strength
Ok I was looking at buying a new hood for my z28 before I paint it. I have delt with a few fiberglass hoods before and most of them don't hold up to well to the stress put on them and crack around the hinges without some good prep work. I figured with how long the hoods are on 4th gens that it might not be the best thing to have a fiberglass hood that uses the stock hinges but instead just had a pin on hood. I was just curious if anyone has ever used a fiberglass hood and had trouble with them or if I am just over thinking
I had a glass cowlhood on a 94 I once had. It was a well built one, that was reinforced andwas finished off on the underside quite nicely. There are cheap flimsy hoods, and there are good ones. Just don't ask me the brand I had, I don't remember. Mine was hinged and used the stock latch, never had a problem with stress cracks.
Part of what stresses a glass hood is treating it like a steel one. Close itgently more by pushing it closed instead of hauling off and slamming it.

ok. also the hood doesn't have a routing system available for the incoming air. I have the dimensions of the opening and I was wondering if anyone knows of a company that makes a 9" wide x 1 3/4" tall intake duct that I can adapt onto to make my own intake. I have already checked out just the usual jegs, summit, and spectre.
