Default Drop tranny for slave cylinder?

I was told I need a new slave cylinder and it is going to cost 400$ for laber because the shop said they need to take the tranny out to replace slave cylinder. Is this true? Should I get second opinion?

I don't know for sure because I have an automatic. But from my experience, unless its an internal slave cylinder, you don't need to remove the tranny. My s-10 was external, I am not sure about the camaro. 2nd opinion sounds like a good idea...or buy a haynes book for the parts store - heck even ask that guy at the parts store.
