Default tune or obd 1??

I'm kind of debating which way to go! My car has been running like crap and it's so low on power that I can't spin the wheels from a dead stop. When the engine was stock spinning wheels was the last thing I had to worry about. It's a rebuilt LT1 with Edelbrock heads and cam, headers, 1.5 roller, cold air and cat back. My issue is do I spend the money for a scanner ($150-$200) and buy the part that took a sh*t or do I just take the car into the shop to get a tune ($300-$600)? I know they'll be able to find any codes that are bad and fix them and up my performance but with Christmas I don't know if I want to get myself deeper in a hole money wise. I don't know. Any suggestions?

Do what you have to do until you can afford to do what you want to do..

That's the thing. I know what I want to do but and how much but I think it would be easier just to get the car tuned and dynoed. My wife thinks it's too much but I don't care. I was just looking for someone to say DO IT F*$#@!@! That's all the convincing I need haha!
