difference between SS and Z28
Ugh...Spec, you're failing at your own cars...
The Firehawk was the Pontiac version of an SS. All the Firehawks were shipped from the Pontiac factory and the finishing performance parts and visual upgrades were added by SLP (starting in 1991, there was no official 1998 Firehawk but six 1998 T/A's were privately purchased and converted into SLP Firehawks for advertising for the 1999 model year). Firehawks will have RPO code BU4(1991-1992), RV6 (1993-1997) or WU6 (for 199-2002), with this you got the Firehawk external mods, upgraded cat-back, upgraded wheels and tires and some decals on your doors. (The 1991 had substiantial internal engine upgrades, but we're not in the 3rd gen section here are we...)
Now, in order for a Camaro to get an SS badge (starting in 1996) it had to be modified by SLP, minimum requirements were the visual package (hood and spoiler), Ram-air intake and the 1LE suspension package (although they used different valving in the shocks) and 17x9.5" wheels. This was RPO code R7T. On top of those modifications if you special ordered you could get further upgraded suspensions, floor mats, shift *****, short shifter etc. all installed by SLP, but they were all separate options from SLP, not from GM. The extra SLP badge you see may have been an option, but it was by no means a separate car.

im not necessarily concentrating on where its made. the SS is an upgraded z of sorts due to the ram air, wheel, and suspension package. a ws.6 is a ram air, wheel, and suspension package. saying im failing is a little harsh. i didnt know this was a history exam
awhah?
v6, formula, formula ws.6 (rare), trans am, and trans am ws.6, firehawk, and firehawk ws.6 (extremely rare).
not that tough. the camaro isnt that far behind in options. there is the v6, z28, ss, slp ss (which they were both made by slp, but i believe only some got the badge), 35th anniv lt4 ss,
basically for the firebird its just firebird, formula, trans am, and firehawk, and ws6 versions of each.

Theres also a Mecham T/A isnt there
(Exotic looking hood and spoiler)
There is no difference between an SLP SS and an SS, people add the SLP on to either make it sound more important or put a brand name on it. All 4th Generation F-bodies that were modified by SLP (read: SS and Firehawk) were built in the GM factory and then shipped to SLP for their "aftermarket" factory performance package (I know that sounds weird, but go with me on it...). In 1996 and 1997 the cars were the early 4th gen style, had the same LT1 the Z28's had in them etc. The cars were actually completed as Z28's by GM and then shipped to SLP where they took off the hood, suspension and whatever else they were replacing and then the performance parts were added. Factory ratings were 315HP and 325TQ, but those may be slightly underrated...
