clunk ?!?!
I guess you could get another stock one and keep replacing them every year.
Or go with a urethane mount that won't separate.
Some guys don't like the extra driveline vibrations it transmits through to the body.
I put one on my old 96, and the vibrations were slight, not nearly enough to bother me.
It's likely that those who experience bad vibrations afterwards, already have something going on in their drivetrain causing a vibration (wear and tear), and the stiff mount just magnifies it.

I started having the "clunk" problem about a month ago. Only when you start out hard, a loud thud under the rear end. I thought mine may be the u-joints too, but they seemed good. So after reading this thread last night, I put the car up on ramps today, and voila!- the tranny mount was in 2 pieces. I bought a new one at Advance Auto for $15, and it fixed it. I can now do burn-outs the way they should be done, with only the sound of the screeching of the tires, no thud. I'm happy again.
i dont care about vibrations, i just hate having to keep replacing it. i do like to get on it and beat on the car sometimes and i need something that could stand up to that. or at least stand up better than the ones i keep putting in.
