clunk ?!?!

Default clunk ?!?!

ok heres the deal. 96 z28 a4, when im driving around town normally, everything feels fine. BUT when some ricer pulls up to me and i let it rip when the green light goes, i feel and hear a clunk, but its only under WOT from a dig. rear maybe going? u joints? not quite sure what it could be.

this could be alot of things look under the car and see if anything looks broken

sounds like a tranny mount to be honest

thats what i was thinking too but ive had trans mounts go and theyll clunk all the time

i did look and nothing looks broken. and i had a trans mount replaced about a year ago. i feel it like behind me when it happens. maybe that narrows it down?

I would still take a closer look at the mount to rule it out (or in). Just because you replaced it last year doesn't mean you didn't rip through another one, especially if you like to do a lot of "WOT from a dig". Put a floor jack under the tail of the trans and lift gently to see if the mount is separated.

alright thanks, ill try that tomorrow. any other things to look at if thats not it?

it's a dad's sure fire way of knowing if junior gets on the throttle or not.

I'm going to buy them by the dozen.

as camaro69 said, check the tranny mount

lol my dad knows i beat on it. "your car, your problem" im so used to hearing that from him.

you guys were right, it is a trans mount. now which trans mount is best? another stock one like ive been getting or a polyurethane one? what are some pros and cons between the two
