Default A Clown Suspension

Hey all, most of you know me from the forum anyway, but I got a 2000 SS with a crazy front suspension. It's mind boggling really. If I'm on flat ground, I can take a 90 degree turn with ease and push it. My front end doesn't make any noises, no squeaks, no strut noises, fact, the struts push so hard on the ground, I think that they push the car in a different direction then I want to go. What I'm getting at here, is a funny little thing called, "Bump Steer." Like probably Bump Steer to the third power. If I hit a bump at any speed, I could be looking towards a curb. If the road is slanted, I'm pulling hard towards the shoulder. If I take my hand off the wheel, huh, I tell ya, I have to grab it back, but if I take it off, I'll go either way, depending upon how the road is on grade. Now, keep in mind, this is my first camaro and it's a late model. So what I have to ask, "Is this normal for all F-Bodies to have scary bump steer?" Reason why I ask, is I took my wife out to dinner about 60 miles away and fought the car all the way there and back. It's really unsettling and scary when passing trucks. Thanks.

Sounds like you have strut or strut mount problems...

I'm kinda wondering if it could be something to do with maybe the car being in a prior accident that the guy didn't disclose to me when I bought it. Makes me nervous. I'm gonna take it into a reputable shop when I find one out here to get a diagnosis. I'd really like to know...

I just bought an '02 and noticed that is wonders quite a bit compaired to the s-10 I traded. I notice it most when there is deep ruts or wear tracks in the lanes of the road, You know little valleys created from lots of use.

I'm gonna have to wait until after christmas is over with, then I'll take it in. If my car has something astronomically wrong with it, then I'm gonna have to sell it out. I owe a lot of money on it too, so I'll have to make some huge payments and then sell it out right and be done with it. I hope it's something stupid like the lug nuts are loose.

You could try carfaxing it to see any previous accidents that were reported; I'll bet you just have some random suspension problem- nobig deal.

If it were loose lug nuts the car would randomly feel like it is sliding, and your wheels wouldnt stay on very long. Trust me, i just got my car back after having 5 lugstuds replaced and a new rim because of loose lug nuts coming off....
