i have a 95 v6 3.8 and sometimes on the freeway when i accelerate after letting off the gas for a couple seconds there is this loud noise almost like its choking, and my car doesnt really accelerate then i let off then back on its fine but it has been happening alot lately and im getting worried haha, any help would be great thanks.

Where does it sound like it's coming from? Engine, tranny, or rear end? Do you have an auto or manual?

It's cool. Explaining noises can be one of the most difficult things to do with cars.

Well, if it's coming from under you it could potentially be your torque converter, since it sounds like it 'fixes' itself when you get out of it and get back on it.

But definitely wait for another couple opinions.

 

Is the check engine lite on?

 

actually yes the check engine light is on i forgot to mention that i was planning on bringing it in but i was hoping to get an idea of whats goin on for when i bring it

I dont really see any other option than to 'guess'. There really wasnt too much of a description to begin with. Perhaps you have a suggestion?

Kidd, are you saying that you are driving then let off the gas then accelerate and it makes the sound? Like a backfire? Did you get the check engine light looked at? When was the last tune up?
