I believe the fans are set to kick on at 215* or something high. Should be normal as long as the car isn't overheating.

try a coolant flush and a new tstat 195* that should help (normal opp temp is about 1/2 way up the gauge)

If its been a while since the coolant has been flushed, definitely do that. Don't forget to bleed it with the bleeder screws.

I installed the fan switches from shbox's site and kick them on when hitting traffic, I like to keep my temp gauge below half whenever possible. Works well for me. As socom said, the fans kick on at a fairly high temp- and when they first kick on, they're running at low, not high.

You should check if you still have your wind deflector for the radiator.

The deflector is the black plastic chin that sits under the front bumper and directs air upward to the radiator. I doubt the deflector was removed because the car heats up at idle and cools when moving. Also, it's not overheating unless it goes into the danger zone. The factory fan presets are pretty hot.

Yea so at low speeds its not getting enough air. At high speeds it gets plenty of air so it doesnt overheat. If im not mistaken somebody was experiencing the same problem here because of the deflector.
