Default lt1 auto trans question

first of idk what the forums rules are about street racing so if im over the line let me know. other forums are touchy on the subject.
so i was on my way home from work when i started playing around with a wrx. i knew i didn't have a chance bur i figured ill see how my new camaro does. put it into 3rd then once we got going it downshifted into second just fine. but once it got into higher rpm. it wouldn't shift back into 3rd at full throttle and didn't kick into third until i let off the gas. is this normal or cause for concern? is it something that could be fixed with a turner?

its a 97. i eventually put it back in drive. it just seemed like it took a long time for it to shift from second to third. and it only shifted once the wrx was gone and when i gave up

Checked the fluid when I drove to work. It is at the correct level. Also noticed the 1 to 2u shift is kind of hard some times.
