Ok. I bought my 95 Z from a friend. The last time he drove it he said he only had first and third gear. It sat for 6 months before i bought it. He pulled the battery when he parked it, and I put a new one in, drove it home and it shifts fine. All forward gears and reverse are fine. What would be some likely causes, the only conclusion I can come to is it was electrical and pulling the battery reset it. Any Ideas?

 

yep when you let the system set with no power it resets the computer to factory/base settings. could aslo be that a valve in the valve body was stuck or sticking and during a cold spell may have come lose. may be a good time to change the fluid and filter, maybe have the valve body upgraded.
