Default Can I replace my steering wheel?

I posted a while back about getting rid of my T/A for an older one. Well, while I was sincere, my father, wife, and everybody else thought I was making a mistake and convinced me to hang on to it. Now I'm wanting to make a few changes to it. I've found a steering wheel, by Grant, but can't find a conversion kit to fit my car. The ones offered only go up to 93 Pontiacs. I would really like to get rid of the eyesore that is my steering wheel and eliminate the stereo controls while I'm at it. I stopped in a ORielly's store and they said nothing was going to be available for it since it was a car that came stock with an airbag and replacing it would be illegal. Legal or not I know that has never stopped anybody before. I'm not locked into the Grant brand by any means but would like to keep the cost of the steering wheel at 200 or less, emphasis on the less. Anyway, I'd appreciate any help.

hypothecticly you could do this by using a older camaro steering wheel adapter. Possibly one from a 90-91. I've heard of this being done, but have not seen it done as my understanding is that it's illeagle to modify an airbag car in this way.

I really don't give a **** about it being legal or not. I've never run across a cop that checks to make sure your vehicle is street legal beyond tail lights and headlights.

Well in most states, if it came with a air bag, it won't pass inspection without one.

When exactly do they do vehicle inspections? I used to live in Illinois, now in Indiana. I've never had a vehicle inspection.
