But my door ISN'T open!
Hey guys, got a really annoying issue right now. My car seems to think the driver side door is open 100% of the time, even when it's closed. And locked. lol.
Basically even when it's closed the headlamps stay on and my security system tells me that the door is open (it's aftermarket and monitors stuff like this).
I've pulled the fuse for the headlamps so my battery doesn't drain, but I need this fixed since not having lights in the car or a radio is kind of...bad. lol.
Any Ideas? I'm assuming it's got to do with whatever switch is closed when the door is closed, but maybe something else?
Thanks in advance guys!

I would look at 2 things here. 1 the door pin switch, this works by shorting the 2 wires plugged into it together and thus turning on the lights. If the little tab in the middle of the switch has broken there is a good chance that the wires are touching all the time.
Second I would look at the alarm and the installation and make sure that all connections to the car's harness are clean and in good condition, with no frays or loose (ie. stripped sheeth with the wire twisted together wrapped in electrical tape) connections. If all this checks out then you may have an issue with the BCM and the alarm fighting. The 93 BCM is very limited in what it does, mainly it controls the keyless entry, door locks, theft lock on the factory head unit, and the retained accessory power (RAP), and last but not least the timed dome lights if your car is equipped.

Thanks man, just the sort of info I was looking for!
I was hoping it wouldn't be the alarm since it's been on the car for a year and a half now with no issues, but the more I think about it the more it makes sense that it's the issue. Because if it were the pin as you say, then when the car is running with the door closed, the lights would be on, correct? (Or is there another system that turns the lights off no matter what if the car is running and the door is closed?) But if I start the car and close the door the lights do turn off. Bleh, Might have to take it back to the guy who did the installation and see what he has to say. :/
EDIT: SCRATCH THAT! I just checked and when the engine is running, the lights ARE still on. Meaning it's most likely the switch afterall.
So what does it take to fix this? lol

Pick up a new switch, unscrew the one in the door jam, unplug the wires and plug the new switch in. You might want to measure the old switch to see how far it is sticking out of the mounting hole so you will know about how far to screw the other on in.
make sure its a left hand switch. its got the rap switch as well as the dome lights. also i show an isolation diode before the switch and the switch as a grounding connection so check the ground under the kick pad on that side and i think theres one on the column.

Alright thanks guys, I'll probably do it as soon as there's a day that isn't 95 degrees. lol
I'll probably just pick it up at Autozone, It's only 4 bucks and apparently it's an item (according to their website anyway...) that they still carry for our cars! lol. What a relief! :P

Hey Craby, could you go into some more detail for me about the two grounds you talked about, as well as this isolation diode? Electrical stuff isn't my area of knowledge, so I want to check all that out but I could use pointers. lol.
Thanks man!
