Building a 99 camaro race car
Hi everyone i'm brand new here. I do have a few skills though, fully cert fitter/welder. I have a 99 camaro that has salavge title to it. I've had it for 4 years now, and have lost total interests with trying to put it back on the road with officials here in canada. So i'd like to convert it into a race car. First off it has the v6 engine. I do have the supercharger engine for it out of buick, I also have a older 350 carb motor, and a 455 buick big block. I was thinking of going with the 350 for this time just to start, i'm going to buy 15-1 high compression pistons and want to run straight acholol. I have no idea where to even start with what would drop into this car the best. any sugestions would be great. thanks. Jonathan

welcome to the forum. i dont think its a good idea to install anything other than lt1 or ls motor in the car and even that will be a major pita and costly. the v6 has different wiring, suspension, engine support and drivetrain than the 5.7s. basiclly u would need to find a v8 camaro to get parts from.

What type of Race car? You can forget about the supercharged 3.8. While you are thinking about what to do go pop your hood look where the motor sits. Then go look at your 350 and where the distibutor is sitting. Now imagine replacing the rotor car, adjusting the timing or best of all pulling out the distributor.
when you say "race car" , are you talking a budget racer or will you be doing chassis/body fabrication and building a new firewall and fabricating it to fit a different engine etc etc??
Please expand upon "race car"
