Default Building my 3.4 ltr camaro. Need help.

Im gonna build it. Im planning on doing a top swap, plus a full rebuild. Are there any cams and High compression pistons available for the 3.4? Also looking for a set of headers. Can you bore that engine out at all? Im plannig on having the top swap ported and polished. A list of available parts and where I can get them would be very helpful. thanx.

There is not much aftermarket stuff for this engine. The heads will have to come from a front drive car using a 3400 or 3500 horizontal engine, you will need the roller rockers that come wit these heads. Due to the oiling system in the 3.4 block, you cannot use the roller cam that is used in the in the 3400-3500 blocks, you will need to use a flat lifter cam. Cams are available from most cam companies. You will also need the intake manifold from the 3400-3500 engine. The 3500 manifold flows better. If your engine uses a distributor, it will not fit with the new manifold, you will have to adapt a DIS sytem, with all the sensors wiring and computer. The 3.4 pistons with the 3400/3500 heads wil result in a stsic compression of over 13:1, so you can change the pistons or go with a very long duration cam to blow off the excessive compression at low RPM. When the engine comes on "cam" spark advance needs to be pulled back, or start using methanol.

Yup, not much out there for aftermarket, aside from headers of course (pacesetter). You can have things made, like forged pistons and such, but that will cost about $800.

The top swap is a very good swap, pete hit it on the head. Email this guy if you have any in-depth questions, he does this for a living. http://www.60inclusive.com/

Please do a write up, I would love to read a step by step of this upgrade. Or atlease note everything that was not a direct bolt on.

Thanks

Thanx for the info. I dont have a distributer. I've got coil packs. So that means I dont have to switch over to DIS, right? thanx
