Hey Guys,

Just when I was about to order new wheels and tires, some fool busts my window and steals my Alpine CD player. I go over to the dealer and they quote me $850 to replace the window. I say thanks but no thanks.

Now I gotta do this myself. Any tips? Is there any better way to pull the door panel off? Do I roll the window up or all the way down to install the new window? And how do I get the broken glass out? I already ordered the door snaps but they told me at the dealership I would need a new window sash... Is that accurate or were they just trying to sell me something?

Man and the thing that really pisses me off is the my only copy of GNR Use Your Illusion was in that player! I would have shot them just for that! And here in Texas, you have the right to shoot someone by the way if they break into your car... Just curious, how many of you all would shoot someone for stealing your deck?

 

id shoot them...then again i just got the stock player...but if i had one i would haha.

I would definetely shoot if I lived in Texas. Where I live they have to be in your home unauthorized stealing stuff to shoot.

2 months ago the Wife & I were shopping for a new laptop & bought one put it in the trunk of the car & went into one more store for about 20 mins. In that 20 minutes some dirtbags opened the door with a lock gun & popped the trunk retrieved our laptop shut the trunk & locked the doors as they left.

Of course nothing else was taken (even our iPods in the center console. We didn't realize what had happened until we returned home (50 minutes away) because it was such a clean job.

Long story short they must have watched us place the laptop in the trunk on our way out of Best Buy & watched us from a distance until we hit our next stop. Sucks!

 

if i were you and caught up to `em , i would beat their head in with the radio until alpine was written all over their face. (since they happen to like alpine) as for the window, are there any shops around you that does windows? around where i live, its about 100 to change a window, thats including the window. then again, where i live windows are popped pretty frequently so that glass shops are doing pretty well.

 

I would check the local bone yards. Heck you can pick up a complete door around here for a $100. They might sell you just the window or the whole door and then remove the window and put in your door.
