Default Brakes... good?

Just got an SS and I'm **** about brakes so it's replacement time. Found these on ebay... any good, or waste of money? Just want rotors.

those appear to be mostly for looks. the brake systems major component is the caliper, thats what gives you your stopping power. you may get a little more from venting and cross drilling but if you want real improvement you need to upgrade the caliper.

those arent bad though, however if you are hard on your brakes dont go with cross drilled because they tend to crack

thats true, i was going to mention that as well. the pad compoun matters, the rotor itself is usually just a hunk of metal

If you are serious about better breaking performance, I would buy some stainless steel brake lines -- I noticed a nice improvement on my SS with them! Any V8 Camaro should have them -- stopping power is very valuable! Goes without saying...

I'm not super super serious about it, I mean a Brembo or Baer kit with 13" rotors sounds pretty good but I dont wanna spend $2,000 +/-.

What kind of compound is good for normal street use and the occassional horse-assing around on the highway?
Carbon Metallic or Ceramic, or any other types? ...and preferably as little brake dust as possible for those pretty chrome wheels.
