Default Battery tray/coolant tank help

Ok first off, who thinks of connecting the battery tray and the overflow tank? Ugh..... Anyways, my boot tab thing broke and my battery just floats all around the place and I want to replace it. How do I do that? Thanks!

This was one of the many small problems that my 94 had when i bought it a few years ago. Every single junkyard car I came across had the exact same problem. I don't know if it occurs due to overtightening the battery hold down clamp or a minor front end bump. Then again, maybe most of the cars were fine until they got to the junkyard and some ape ripped the battery out...

I finally broke down and bought a brand new reservoir/tray from GM. Part number 10402687. It cost less than $50 and was worth it to me because I knew it was clean inside.

Be careful if you do this. There's a grommet pressed into the top of the reservoir and an aluminum pipe that leads to the radiator neck. That pipe often corrodes where it passes through the grommet and you might break the pipe when you remove it.

I temporarily solved this with a large zip tie around the battery as I have the same issue-so far it's holding the battery in place very well, no movement-I just tied it off to the frame. I will likely get around to replacing it eventually, but didn't want it sliding around in the meantime.
