Another high idle thread

Default Another high idle thread

To keep it simple I have an idle around 1500 rpm and the ses light is on til the compressor kicks on then it runs normally ideas?

That's the weird thing, its not a code when I paper clip scan it there are no codes, the light goes off after the compressor kicks on

You do not get any codes? With the motor not running you should get code 12. Are you sure you are doing it right? Also ther is a procedure to home the IAC motor, Have you tried that? Most of the time high idle is caused by vaccum leaks.

Oh BTW codes are pulled with the engine off and the key on.

Yeah I know the code procedure, it was that the code would go away after the compressor kicked on, I asked Steve from my local mechanic shop about it and its because I just filled the a/c on an empty system and it tripped up the compressor or something like that but after running the a/c turning it off letting it cool down starting it again and flowing the a/c again it starts and idles just fine so its all fixed up

It could be the motor compensating for the load of the ac but I've never heard of that

All EFI cars do that. Infact even some of the old carbs had a stepper motor to bump up the idle to compensate for the added load of the AC compressor. With older GM cars the compressors use to turn on and off a lot, that was how they controled the pressures. If you watch the IAC signal on a hand scanner you will see it adjust just as the compressor kicks on.
