About to buy a z28
He's the newest member of the LS end-all fanclub because his old LT1 Z28 broke.
The coolant level sensors for these cars are known for being faulty, there's nothing to worry about. Replace the sensor, unplug the current sensor, or just learn to ignore the dummy light.
Engine operating temperature is at 180*F. When you get moving your temp gauge should read between 180-190*F and climb as high as 230*F when stationary. The fans kick on at 226* for low speed and 235* for high speed on a stock tune. LT1s run hot.
The bracket for the door will need some trial and error type adjustment. You can do it with a few box wrenches and a bottle jack. It requires a good amount of patience.
The price sounds right on the money if the paint is in good condition... but the seller seems a bit sketchy. How long has he owned it and why is he selling?

I will check up on 180*. He claims fan is on toggle switch....My jeep has a toggle switch E-fan because it overheats in 4x4 summer weather beach terrain. Possibly prev owner put in low temp thermo to avoid a hot engine ?
He says he owned it for a few weeks, and is having another kid soon and has to get rid of it..... doesn't sound 100% but, who does on craigslist these days?
been stalking craigslist.
I really like the 97 z-28.. Im going to give that number a call tomorrow and see if its still for sale, thanks alot.
Im trying to spend around 4k cash, willing 5k for something that really catches, that's all the play money i have right now, But willing to find a dealership in my area and spend up to 10k so i can finance. Anyone know of dealerships on long island? I figured regular chevy dealers wouldn't keep 02's and lower in stock
Cool me too. If you don't mind me asking what town? I'm from Lindenhurst. Chevy dealers don't carry cars that old, only used lots. I'd give that 97 Z28 guy a call. Remember it's in brooklyn. Cars there tend to get beat up by poor street condition/careless city drivers.

the prices on 4th gens are going down. thing is this is probly the worst time of year to be in the market for a sports car. i would say if its in good shape, no more than 3k. i would offer 2k. maybe 2500. if your like me and dont like the looks of the 98-02 then try and hold out for a 96 or 97.

Location, location, location. There isn't much around here for a decent price so you pay a hefty premium near big NE cities like Philly or NYC. Do a bit of searching in more rural areas and you'll find better deals.
What I generally see on the Philly CL....
An A4 LT1 car under 80k will typically sell for around $4,000-4,500 if it's loaded and the paint is in great condition. An A4 LS1 car under 80k will sell around $6,000-6,500 with the same features. Add $1,000-1,500 for a stick car. The NYC market seems to be pretty similar.
