Default About to buy a z28

Hey, im new to this forum as you can tell, and im new to camaros in general. I've spend a good amount of time with jeeps and dodge trucks focusing mostly on suspension and 4x4 improvements. Enough about me,

Im about to buy a 1993 z28 automatic and have a few issues that id like some clarification on from experienced owners. Issues are as follows

-Coolant light is on, owner says he filled it to the brim already, will not go off

- Engine temp wouldn't raise any higher than about 1/4-1/3 of the gauge. Coming from a jeep background, our 4.0L's run at 210 degrees....where should the water temp be on these cars?

-driver side door "drops" a little when opened, but can be opened and closed with a little help. Owner says its a little plastic piece that he has already ordered. Is this common? easy fix?

-Shifts hard from 1st to 2nd (automatic) Not bucking but really noticeable, all other gears shift normally.

Owner says its all stock, but has only owned it for a few weeks. Im planning on offering him 3700 for it. Any answers or advice on this car would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Welcome.

Has he ever flushed the radiator, or has he just always filled it?

Do the fans kick on at all? The temperature sounds like a thermostat issue.

The door droop is fairly common. Im sure you noticed just how large and heavy these doors are, and the hinges eventually give out. I have not changed one, but this should not be overly difficult if you have a couple extra hands to help you.

The hard shift could be a bad synchro, does it grind at all?

- No doesn't seem to know much about cars, he says he just topped it off. Coolant looks fresh and clean. Do these engines have a tendency to get air in the system?

- Didnt hear any fans come on, didnt even check but do these have clutch fan or E-fan...or both. I figured t-stat.

- Im sure I can do the door, ive taken plenty off and on for beach rides

- No grinding, just hard shift. Can a synchro be replaced at home or does it require a rebuild?

Door dropping can be a pain. I have not done a 4th gen yet. I have one that needs it. There is no plastic part the door will need to come off and the bushings replaced. In some cases the hidges themselfs need replaced.

Coolant could be very minor but I would get the system pressure tested.

Hard shifting is in a automatic could be a little as a cable adjustment or as big as damaged accumulator. Corvette 1;2 accumulator is a common upgrade for these cars. Corvette accum will give the car a harder shift.

In my area $3700 would be the top of the line for a 93 automatic with say 80K on the clock. She would have to be very nice. 93s do not bring as much as their OBD1 brothers the 94. Area is important these could go for more in your area then mine.

Syncs are a manual trans thing.

Check the TV cable adjustment for the trans. The trans in my Vette (same as yours) was hitting the 1-2 shifts a little too hard until I adjusted the cable. Throttle Valve Adjustment
