Default 98 Camaro V6 Coolant Temperature Sensor location

I am having an issue with my Camaro, and hope changing the temp sensor will fix it. I know the car is running at proper temp, but the temperature gauge never goes above about 170-180. Sometimes it will inch its way up to 210, and sometimes it fails to to go much above 160. Despite what the gauge reads, the heat comes out as hot as it should as the car warms up and then reaches operating temperature. I am really hoping it is not something wrong with the gauge, so the first place I'll start is the coolant temp sensor. I do not believe the thermostat is malfunctioning since I am getting nice, hot heat, and the car is not using any coolant.

I am pretty sure it is located underneath the throttle body, but some posts I have read say it is in the side of the block, and some say there are two sensors I have? Was hoping to get a firm answer for my model year before I go unscrewing something that isn't the temp sensor, or removing stuff to get to what turns out to not be the temp sensor.

Thanks!

sensor should be on the driver side head, in front of and just above the exhaust manifold.
