Ok I have a 98 Camaro 3.8 v6 that is having A/C problems. It worked fine last year but when I turned it on a couple of weeks ago it did nothing. I have 13.4 volts to the compressor but the clutch is not pulling in. I can jump it straight from the battery and it will pull in. I put a set of gauges on it and was about 50psi not running. The relay under the hood is pulling in. I went from the negative side of the connector to the compressor and the positive side of the battery to the compressor and it sill come on. I also read 2.4 to 1.8 ohms across the compressor. If I jump from the relay to the compressor it will not come on. I also hit the compressor to see if the coil was weak but nothing. I did notice last year that if I went up a hill it the compressor would stop until the load came off the motor. Thanks for your help. Also I have a high pressure switch but have not been able to fine the low pressure switch.

 

scann for trouble codes. the computer should tell u whats going on in the ac by codes.

 

I have no codes or service engine light.

 

the ac does not set the ses light on mine either. i had to scan with a good scanner to find the ac codes. are u using a good scanner? have u checked all your fuses? thats as far as my knowledge goes on the ac. u may have to take it to a dealer or good ac shop and have it checked. thats what im going to do. lol. sorry couldnt help more.

 

have you tested the pressure in the line while the compressor is running? You dont check the pressure when its off.
