Default '97 stock head lamps

Had a halogen bulb blow, and then a day later the other blew!

Anyway, It seems these are a sealed unit. I can buy them off ebay but it costs a lot to have them shipped out to New Zealand.

I was able to pry the bulb out of the housing and buy another bulb. From my research If I use some sealent this is sufficient.

My question is, does anyone know of an aftermarket standard head lamp assembly so that I dont have to re-seal it every time a bulb blows...

Cheers.

they sell bulb kits to replace just the bulb.but you can carefully take the plug out an put in a bulb.not just the whole headlight a untility knife works fine ,carefully cut around.. the edge they come out just a little glue holds them in , they have like 4 bulb replacement kits for $20.00 ebay, but it happens i have had only 2 go in 7 years very close to eachother too

Cheers.

I can see just the lamp and socket at local autoparts stores, however the fitting to connect it to the housing is different, so I would need some silicone or similar to keep it in place / as well as water tight i guess.

I'll check out ebay.

When I had 4th gens, I used the off the shelf replacement bulbs. Carefully pried off the original glued on bulb, and held the new one in place with clear silicone adhesive. Worked like a charm. Remember not to touch the glass part of the bulb with your bare fingers.
