Default 96 Z28 won't recognize keyless entry remote

I ordered a new 4-button remote for my car from a 03 Corvette for $25 off of Amazon, but when I went to program it I got no response. The remote is functional and doesn't need a battery change proven by a strong RF signal from a tester I used at Pep Boys. Any ideas? I have a friend who said he's synced his car to multiple remotes from different GM models (one of them being an 04 Cavalier), but I've had no such luck.

The car refuses to sync with the key fob even after following all instructions from the car's manual (also reposted on shbox). After removing the radio fuse (#17) and cycling the ignition 3 times the car responds correctly as stated in Step 3 by unlocking the doors and hatch. However, I receive no response from the car after holding the lock and unlock buttons on the remote for 15+ seconds in Step 4. From what I've heard, the BCM is supposed to act as a receiver for the keyless entry system from 96 on but mine doesn't seem to be functioning properly because it fails to program.

Has anyone had any success linking their car to a remote from a different GM model? Could there be something wrong with my BCM and would this be a possible fix? (https://camaroforums.com/forum/4th-g...-repair-52062/)
