Default 94 3.4L auto starts in 2nd gear ??

I just bought a 94 3.4L auto, runs good but it always takes off in second gear no matter what you do with the shifter. If there is a SGS switch where is it? can I by bipass it?
Thanks

First off, your car isn't an RS, that was a 1996 and newer option.
Second gear start wasn't available until 96 either, with the 3.8 engine, so your car doesn't have that option.
Some likely causes could be:
A stuck valve or broken spring in the valve body.
The PCM isn't telling the trans to shift into first.
A broken 1-2 accumulator piston.
If it was a shift solenoid, you wouldn't have 4th gear either as it's shared (or don't you)?

Definitely make sure you have 4th also, like above. That would most likely make it the shift solenoid.

I recently put in a rebuilt trans. Thought it was only missing 1st but realized it was also 4th. Long story short, I bought the shift solenoid, and when I went to replace it, the old one was not plugged in all the way. I was pissed at first, then laughed about it once I was smoking tires again

I just installed both shift solenoids, I checked the accumulator piston and springs, put in a filter kit, I will have it back together tomorrow and see if it works.
(Im not sure I had 4th) If PCM isn't telling the trans to shift into first would it be the PCM?
Thanks

Not necessarily the PCM itself, it could be a wiring issue between it and the trans. Keep your fingers crossed and hope that what you already did does the trick.

I have it back together and it works perfect. The shift solenoids were the problem.
Thank you.
