Default Which way is the water pump supposed to spin on an 89 firebird 305tbi

My car has been over heating after driving for Abit I removed the thermostat and bypassed the heater core due to it being blown the antifreeze is coming from the top of the radiator and flows down the left side of the radiator I'm curious if the wrong water pump may be on it making it flow the wrong direction I'm not very mechanicly inclined and still learning I would love some ideas I'm also thinking the head gasket may be blown or the intake might be blocked I have no idea I would love some help

All first gen V8s flow bottom up until in 1992 when the LT1 was a reverse flow top down system. For the system to pump backwards you would need a pump that was never made (lt1 is complexly different and does not use a belt) and a way to change the belt to run the opposite way.

If water pump pulley is flat - reverse rotation pump - CCW
If pulley is ribbed, normal rotation pump - CW

As noted above , the pump rotation on certain models ( the L98 in the C4 Vette for example ) is reversed ; not the flow through the block
