trany help
I just bought an 85 z-28 and it has a 700r4 trany in it with a B&M shift kit in it. well the car dont shift unless its pushing 4000 rpms or higher so i think the Kick down cable is not ajusted right i had to swich carbs on it cuz the old one was crap and since then it wont shift right so how do u ajust the kick down cable and to see pics of my new car go to http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3090728and please tell me what u think i got the car for 1700
It's not a kickdown cable any more. It's called a TV cable, because it operates the Throttle Valve in the trans, which controls fluid line pressure as well as the upshift points and downshifts.
To adjust, have the engine off, push in the recessed "D" shaped retainer and slide the inner cable housing all the way toward the firewall. Then open the throttle all the way by hand and the TV cable should ratchet out to where it wants to be. When I did mine, it didn't want to ratchet out on it's own, so I coaxed it by grabbing the TV cable where it clips onto the linkage, and pulled it forward as I opened the throttle. Basically, the TV cable wants to be fully extended at WOT (wide open throttle).
