Default trany help

I have a 700r4 transmission and i was on my way home when i stoped at a stop sign when i took off it shifted in to first fine but wont shift in to 2nd. I had no problems with it before and i still have reverse and nutrul and park. A friend said it could be my governer gear. I hate to drop the trany if it is that, so i was wondering what u guys have to say.

I checked my kick down cable and its good i also took out my governer gear and thats good and my fluids r good. The fluid smells burnt really bad tho i stopped at the only place that speclelized in tranys and they want $1200 for a rebuild and i am not even going to ask a dealer ship since they screwed me over on my last car. so any quick way to fix it or should i start saving my $?

Does your trans work if you throw it down into first and shift manually through all the gears?

Adjust your tv cable this controls line pressure, shift points firness etc. with the engine off and the throttle at idle position, push the button onthe side of the cable housing in , cable shouldslide all the way in the housing. then open the throttle lever wide open, the cable should slide out to the correct position, releasethe button
