transmission questions still

Default transmission questions still

i bought a 87 iroc z 28 700r4 trans for my 89 z28 and was wondering if it is the same as a 83 700r4 my car takes a 700r4 as i bought it without one and was hoping someone could tell me it wont cause me any issues ?

You may have a snag or two. My 87 uses a cable for the speedo. I believe 88 and up use the VSS for speed. Also, I am not 100% sure on the TCC switch. I believe it is the same 4 prong pig tail connection.

You bought an 87 700R4 for your 89 car, so why are you asking about an 83 trans?
82-84 models were the weaker failure-prone ones, and GM made some upgrades after 84. All these year models you're looking at still have the cable driven speedo, 1990 was the first year the Camaro had the VSS/electric speedo setup. If there is a plug configuration difference for the lockup, it can be rewired.

my bad i had a typo in the question i have a 83 z28 thats why i was asking about it my bad and thanks for the info camaro 69
