My naive father is going to buy a 2010 camaro within the month and is leaning towards the L99 automatic. I feel like this is a bad choice, but I may be wrong. We all know that in 4th gens the t56 will outlast (with an experienced driver) any 4l60. I simply need to know if the 6l80 is going to run into the same problems as the 4l60/e, or if it is actually going to handle 400 bhp as well as the manual? I'm guessing no one knows this yet, but I'm hoping for a die hard gm fan to know this.


p.s. do the paddle shifters keep you in high gears even when it wants to downshift?

 

4l80e is a very strong transmission and has a close ratio shift. have one in the one ton thats worked great with no issues. can easily handle 400 hp.
