AMC was like the hybids of auomotive manufacturing. You jeep problly had a steering column and key just like in GM vehicles

 

i know mine did!!! even had the wobbly steering column. but never got the oppertunity to fix that.

 

I actually think that the 700 R4 trans is good. I have one in my camaro and I really raise alot of hell in it. Itslipped whenI first got it. My step dad got that crap from oreily that you put in your trans and it stop it from slipping. It worked but i think its hard on it. I think with a rebuild and a shift kit it would be a pretty BA trans.
