Default stripped damper bolt!

Any easy fix?
I was installing the new harmonic balancer, yes I was using the right tool, but when I put the bolt back, it stripped the threads on the bolt.

Dang it.......

nothing easy. you can try your best to clean them up or retap it, but i dont think you will find a correct bolt larger to fit it. may have to replace the crank. how did you manage to do that?

ive done it and just ran a tap in it and cleaned the threads up. i did have a extra bolt from another balancer to use that was a little longer. when i put it on i helped the bolt to pull the balancer on by tapping the rachet lightly with hammer as i felt it tighten. that way the bolt was not working to hard when it only had a few threads to pull with.

I used the proper tool of course.

I used a 7/16 20 tap, cleaned out the threads, and it tightened up just fine.

Dodged that one ..............

On the bright side, I am one step closer to getting the engine back in.........
