New member saying hello with a few questions
Well hello everyone. I am happy to find a forum like this. I was starting to think I might be in this alone or with high mechanic bills.
My uncle just passed away. God rest his soul. He left me his two hot rods. His 72 Gran Torino and his 89 Camaro IROC with the 5.7 inside. Talk about a great uncle. My first car was a 1989 Camaro RS with the 2.8, so needless to say I am thrilled that he thought of me first when it came to these cars.
My questions are about the Camaro. The interior fabric about your head is starting to hang. The only thing holding it up is the interior light. This is a coup not a convertable by the way. It is in good condition, no rips or holes, just hanging. Is there a cheap do it your self fix for this. I was thinking some sort of spray glue and then push it back in place would work.
I know he started the Camaro weekly letting it run for a good hour. And he only drove it on sunny dry days. So my tune up will hopefully take care of the engine running a little ruff. It hesitates when you hit the throttle. So I am hoping plugs, wires, cap, fuel filter, and a good oil change will work. If not I will be back on here for more help.
My second question is that the battery dies if you let it sit for more than a day or two. I have tried two known good batterys. I have started the car and unhooked the battery and she ran fine. So the alternator is good. Any thoughts? I will be trying to use a meter this weekend to nail down where the drain is. Maybe you all know of a known issue with this car?
Thanks for any input. Take it easy.
