Default Need tranny help

Hello forums,
I have been thinking of getting a shift kit for my car, and while the trans is off I am thinking of getting a new torque converter that runs about 2500 stall for the engine I am building. The engine I am building will be done by the summer time. First off I am a recovering Ford fan :P
And I have no idea what transmission my 5.0 Berlinetta has in it?
Also should I save the torque converter for the summer as well or just do it while the tranny is off?
It is an Auto 3
Thankyou!

If you're building an engine with any good amount of h.p./torque, you'll want to toss the boat anchor of a trans you have. Provided you have the trans the car came with, it's a 200C (lockup converter) 3 speed, which was designed to handle lightweight torque. I see you want to have a 700R4. Getting one built up to handle the engine you're putting in would be your best bet, both for gearing and having overdrive, which will give you a good edge over a 3 speed. Here's a visual chart to tell automatic transmissions apart (don't confuse the 200 with the 200-4r): Automatic Transmission Identification

Merry Christmas Camaro69!
And funny enough my friend has a 700r4 for sale, it was rebuilt as well.
I will still be putting a shift kit into it. I need to put the transmission in soon so will the 700r4 be a direct bolt on to everything?
You are a car guru!
Thankyou!
