What you pay for insurance is not a set fee. It depends on the car, your age, driving record, credit rating, and where the car is garaged. Since the car is going on your mom's policy, call the isurance agency and they will give a definite price.

K, cool i got a quote and it is $750 a year and it cost $157.13 monthly. I also need some help from you people that have driven z28's. My parents said that i will have to be extra extra carefull with this being a fast car for my first car. Im 17 and i never really like to go over the speed limit or drive fast around turns and etc.. They said at first they did not want me to get the car because it might get me into driveing faster since it is a CAMARO! But i plan on playing it safe and trying nothjing to get me a ticket.. For atleast a year i will not do anything stupid. I want to show them im responsible.. I already peel out on turns once in a while in my dads truck but i will stop with that. How easy is it to peel out. Any tips will help. When im turning does it only take a little bit og gas for it to peel out. I dont want to do it i want to know how to prevent it. When im at a red light and it turns green the truck usually peels out, so i have to slowly pick up. Im gueesing its because in trucks the back ends are lighter than the front. So yeah just give me some safe tips. also i know im gonna be haveing trouble in the snow with this car.. Are they really bad in the snow?

What kind of truck is that? Peeling out at stoplights everytime?

Your snow question is an obvious yes. A RWD high hp/high torque sports car will spin a lot.

I'd personally get something a bit less in performance since this is your first car.

If you are responsible enough to drive a Z28 get it but keep in mind they are a high profile car for the police and any little thing will get you pulled over and maybe even a ticket which will raise your insurance. Z's are defiantley not toys and if you don't have much driving experience with fast V8's then maybe you should buy a third generation Z28 with the 305 in it. It all depends on how responsible you are. My first car was a 2000 Ranger and I had planned on trading it for a Camaro but never got the chance because I totalled it. Now 2 years later I have a 1996 Z28 and I try to be as responsible as I can. So I guess what I'm trying to say is just be safe and enjoy your Z if you get it!!!

Hmmmm...
I'm a young lad myself....and that's exactly what I did.
For my first car I got myself a third gen (84z28) for 700 dollars in fairly decent condition.
I plan on restoring, riding land loving it.
I won't lie though, If my budget allowed, I'd get the 97' as well

-Just think about how an older model + half the money you'd spend on the 97' = A freakin dope ride. It may not be such a bad idea.

hey man whats up you said this is your first car, indeed do get it. I have a 94 z and yeas they handle ****y in the winter but dont act stupid and the car will stay in one piece. About the whole no speeding aspect i do not believe you will follow. Do you relize your getting a race car basically. Trust me when that riced out civic pulls up next to you or that loud but slow mustang gt revs its engine at the light you are gonna go with them you just cant resisit. If your scared of tickets get a good radar detector like from rocky mountain radar company they guartee no tickets so there u have it go out and get your z and enjoy the hell out of it
