Who can suggest some engine mods to get it up to that kind of power?? i'm going to remove the emissions crap because i don't need it but should i change the heads? Put on a set of Vortec heads, and a new intake manifold to mate to the new heads, put on long tube headers, a hot street cam that makes good power up to about 6500 RPM, some sort of cold air intake, tune your distributor and carb to work with the new set up and you should have your 400HP. Change the rear end ratio to a 3.75 or 4.11 with limited slip, and you should be able to able to smoke most riced up cars.
if you want this mostly for the street like you said, you might not want as high gears as the 4:11 but 3:75 or a little less should be good.
If you allready have headers you dont need new ones, they shouldnt make that big of a difference. A new cam would probally do a good job not to mention that the old one is probally worn to hell. New pistons, rings etc. You could always bore and stroke for a 383.
Let us know what your doing.
Good luck and enjoy

Turn that thing into a 383 screw the vortec heads go with Brodix there better for the 350, get the Vic Jr. air gap intake with a nice double pumper, a cam with a lift over .500 lift, distributer wire msd box, a good eagle crank and rods with forged pistons probally a 10.5 to 1 compression, the gears ya if you want it streetable go 3:75 with good locker or posi and hell just juice the damn thing you'll get will over the 400hp range close to 500 if you use the NOS correctly. And oh ya since it is an F-body get the subframe connectors so your window dosen't pop off when you take off and upgrade the brakes just for your safty
