Default Massive 89 camaro 350 problems

i just bought this car today, (89 camaro, 350 5 speed), the car is carbuerated 4 some reason? but anyways, basically nothing electronic on the dash works, no spedo, no odometer, not, tach, no fuel guage, no cooling guage, nothing! is there some kind of ground they have in common? or a fuse? the lights on the back of the instrument cluster work, but thats about it, also, the car ran out of gas because the fuel gauge doesn't work, not the car is running like crap (if it even stays running) could running regular (89 octane) cause this? or maybe just sucked something from the pump to the carb? I'm a mechanic by the way, just never delt with camaros.... thanks, Matt

You will find the engine to be much like anyother engine you have worked on as a mechanic. I am thinking the engine might have been swapped and the previous owner never got around to hookin up the wiring. Just a thought.

I am trying to think when i did my motor sway 305 to a 350. I know i pulled the cluster out many of times and each gauge has 2 to 3 pins that slide into clamps. There really is no fuse for the instruments itself but i know the RPM hooks up to the distributor and the speed-o hooks up to the bottom of the transmission. For the fuel it should be on the tank a cable and the coolant temp sensor is usually on the block it self on the driver side or on the thermostat housing. I`m not next to my car now but as far as i know that`s where most of the sensors are in those vehicles.

there is a fuse for the gauges, believe its number 9 or number 12. i had a problem in the wiring and when i launched hard, it shorted out my gauges. i couldnt find the problem, so i said eff it and wired up new gauges instead
