Default Heat related starting problem

I have 88 with 85 305 4 barrel mostly edlebrock, it has headers and dynamax exhaust.
When its 60 degree or warmer and you drive 15 to 20 minutes
and shut it off you turn the key and nothing.
Jump it it starts right up.
Let it cool off for 1/2 hour to an hour it starts right up.
Car is not running hot 190 to 200 dregees.
Any ideas???
I'm really frustated with this.

Sounds like the old Chevy hot starter problem. May want to get a new starter or put a heat shield on the old one, if it does not have one.

I tried putting heat shield on. It did not help.
Is there a difference in standard and high torque starters??
Have anyone used the moving the cylinoid trick.
This did not happen when it was in 1985 body.
It started after it was moved.

Sounds like heat saturation or a cable connection problem

Get a new lifetime warranty starter from one of the auto parts chain stores...I've nailed Autozone for about 6 starters in the last 12 years on 3 different vehicles...still have the warranty for when they die the next time.....

Just be sure to check the bendix gear tooth alignment ( most starters come with instructions on how to check this) and if your flywheel is worn replace it. and don't forget to hook up the little brace that goes from the stud on the starter to the side of the engine block....

I use the ford solenoid on all my GM applications. It does work and you can relocate all the wires up to the relay from down there except for the main battery wire.can be made into a pretty clean instulation with a little effort.
