Default Differential Question

Hi everyone. Been a while since I last posted about playing with my camaro, but I finally got around to doing something different with it. I put my rear end out of my 91 Z28 with a 305 TPI in the shop to get redone. I bought a ring and pinion setup with a 3.73 ratio. I thought since I was getting it redone, might as well up the ratio. I was under the impression that my stock ratio was 3.42, so the 3.73 should have been no problem. Well.... Just got a call from the mechanic and he said my stock carrier is a 3.08 and that he counted the teeth to double check. So now I'm kind of stuck and don't know what direction I should take, because he has already attempted to get everything lined up with the supplied shims and couldn't make it work. Which is when he found out about the ratio. He told me about a ring gear shim that you can get that should move the ring gear over far enough to make the pinion line up correctly. The only problem is he doesn't know where to get one. I have never heard of one and have already contacted the seller of the ring gear to see if he knew of any such thing. What do you think? Hopefully I won't be out all the money I just spent on this setup and labor to get everything to where it needs to be.
