car will not start
I have a 1992 camaro rs 5-speed. I took the 305 out and dropped a 350 in it and this is not the first engine. I lost my key (VATS) and had a locksmith make a new ignition and key for me. After the engine and everything was finished I made a 150 mile trip back here to dallas. The car ran great then and the next day but yesterday my car woudn't start. I can put the key in turn it to start and all the light do what they are suppose to do, but the starter does nothing no click or anything. I traced down my starter wire(purple) I jumped it to the battery and drove it to work. I had a locksmith come by and the key and the ignition are working perfectly from what his box said. I went to leave and the car was dead, I jumpped it and it is not charging i noticed. I let it idel for a while and the cooling fan didn't kick on not even with the ac turned on. I checked all the fusable links and all are good. I even bypassed the Safety Nuetural Switch, I tried to check the ignition switch pulled it out and hooked a test light up to each wire. It did seem to be working properly. I checked all my grounds and hot box beside the battery, I still can not figure this one out does anyone have any insight on this one? Urgent need of some ideas and help this is my only car to get to and from work.
Mine does the exact same thing, and I had the same parts replaced. IT turns out I had a crack in one of my wires that controls the starter. It was a pure accident that I found it. The wires got brittle and a hair line crack in the wire causes it not to make contact. If you find another problem other than that let me know. Good luck
I found one of the problems today. The VATS fuse was MISSING, someone stole the fuse out of my car. I checked everything and checked all the fuses that were in it. I didn't think till now to look and see what fuses were missing. It now starts with a key but I still will not charge and fan dosn't cuton with the A/C. I replaced the 3 relays under the hood because I have had a previous problem like this, but it was just the charging system. I took the altenator to Autozone and it tested good, I have replaced the Relay. Where can I be going wrong?
I just got the car out of the shop and the reason the fan wasn't coming on and the altenator wasn't charging is because the fan fuse controls both. the fuse box is wore out any fuse dosen't make a good contact. The prongs have been spread apart and isn't alowing a good conection. I hope the form helps someone out when they are in need.
