The carb will end up making your performance drop. If you were looking to drop a 350 in I would advise you to swap to carb but none the less, this is your car and your decision.
Here is a great summary from 350RS on these forums. Thank him for this writeup.

"youll need a new non computer controlled distributor, manifold, and obviously the carb. a new link from the throttle cable to the carb also i think, but i wouldnt swear to it.

the fuel pump in your tank flows too high pressure for a carb. Youll need to either get a regulator with a return line ( just because its easier on the pump) OR, take it out all together and put a mechanical pump on the block.

as far as the tranny. find a doner car with the 5-speed already ( try and find one with a V8 already for the correct bell housing). that way you have all the parts. But buy a NEW CLUTCH. they arent that much money and you might as well replace it while its out of the car anyway. Just beware that the 5 speed isnt that strong of a tranny, as long as you arent putting to much power to it youll be ok"

it doesnt say what his car originally had in it, so im assuming its going in the 85 which is most likely already a carbed engine, so he should be alright with the fuel pump

in my opinion i would keep the TPI..i simply love it. easy to tune and modify, looks cool, goes fast and is very very reliable. the most simple form of fuel injection next to throttle body injection. somewhere in the past on one of these forums i frequent i had a build where I did an 86 Monte Carlo SS. went with a custom built 355 ci sbc and TPI injection. with a custom 700r4..it was a badass combo. i was going to go with a t5 but finding the world class t5 and the right bellhousing to make it fit in the gbody at the time was a little difficult.

The Tpi came out of the 91, The 85 has a 305 with a bent rod or something. So what Im wanting to do is take the motor from the 91 and put it in it. Im wanting to take the Tpi setup off and put a carb. And keep the HO heads. So basically Im taking the block and heads and putting a new intake and carb on it, and throwing it in there. Will it work? Im gonna build something bigger, just putting this together for now.

Alright. Any tips on whats a good motor to build for that setup? I dont want to have to swap the harness or computer or anything. Just want to build something simple with more power. I know these cars inside out, but im a noob when it comes to building performance motors.

I am not sure what you are asking but I will post both of the things I think this means :P

The 350 is an amazing engine to build on unless you can find a bbc for cheap. No replacement for displacement.

Here is a cheap little build-up, that will get you more than enough power for your street demon without tearing it apart. If you want a guide of complete tear and rebuild ask again. Everyones builds will be different, in my experience this is an amazing build for the price. And all the parts will bolt onto a 350

Distributor
MSD-8362/ $132.95 on summit

Intake Manifold
EDL-2101/ 129.95 on summit (Go with this if you are running stock stall)
(Performer rpm if you are running 2000 stall)

Headers (Worry about output before input, massive bottleneck is the stock exhaust manifold)
SUM-G9001 $99.95!! Summit house brand.

With the carburetor its hard to say, I dont want to say either Holley or Edelbrock because i will be torn apart, go with your personal preference.

$362.85 before carb and tax!
