Well i have redone the body on my 85 camaro Z-28 so next I want to add some power!! The car has the carb. 4barrel 5.0 305 automatic so what can I add to this to get more horsepower. I'm not looking to spend all that much money but I mean its something i would like to do. Help me out!!

 

no such thing for turbo. read around all the threads first, espcially the stickies on how to make power.

 

Stock 305 with stock 4 bbl bad idea. Yes it could be done but your motor is not going to see the gains you want with out a lot of work. First off i am not one to bash the 305 but if i was going to turbo the car i would at least find a solid bottom end first. Since a 305 and 350 short block cost about the same you might as well go with the extra cubes. Next you are going to need a good intake manifold and carb that can support the fuel demands of a turbo. Now this is going to be a very minimal set up with out a good set of heads so a set of vortec or vette heads are going to be a must. Now you are looking at 2-5K for a turbo set up depending on how you spend your money. Now after you get her all nice and tuned and your making decent power its about time for your trany to give out followed by your rear end.

Start small my friend. If the motor is low mileage and in decent shape start by adding headers, exhaust, a decent carb, and a good manifold. If its on its last leg start saving up or building a 350 or 400 on the side.

If you just dont care and want to see how fast you can go for as cheap as possible spray the hell out of it
