Default A couple questions about a v6-v8 swap

1986 2.8l auto
120k on car
~70k on engine
paid $700

I've been reading about this swap alot, and been talking to some local chevy guys about it.

I bought this v6 even though a camaro with a v8 was for sale for a couple hundred more... The body on this car has no holes or rust whatsoever.
Even the paint underneath the car is pretty good.
With the snow we get around here, it's hard to find older cars like this that
aren't rust buckets. On top of that, the car came with a new interior (minus the seats) that still needs put in.

Anyway, about the wire harness...
A couple of my buddies are saying that if I'm dropping in a carbed 350 or alike, I shouldn't need to worry about replacing the whole harness and computer. The said I'd just need to wire the required power, blah blah.
Problem is, these guys are also ball busters so I take everything they say as questionable.

Someone was also telling me that if I decided to go with a 400 small block, something about destroking it using the crank and rods from a 350 to increase the RPMS. Is this even worth doing or practical?

Oh to whoever views this, if you're selling any plastic grills from the front bumper, I need one ... I had a little accident today lol. Nothing major.
