Default 1991 RS Issue

Okay here goes...the problem I'm having is that my car will not go over 20 mph. Well I better explain. My husband and I took it to a nearby city (1 hr. drive) to look at some trailers. The car ran fine the whole ride there but when we were on our way home, it started choking every time I press the gas pedal. If I let off the gas it starts back up, but I can't seem to get it over 20 mph. Some people have told me it may be my fuel filter considering it's never been replaced, other than that no one has any idea. Can some please help me?

Fuel filter would be a good place to start. If that doesn't fix it, check your fuel pressure, and how well it holds after you prime the system (key on-key off). It could be your fuel pump going out.
