Post 82 V8 with my 91 v6 tranny?

Hey guys I have an 82 Camaro, loved it to bits and one day, some dummy rammed it and of course insurance saying this is just an old car, will write it off for a fender bender. But my point here is I have a 91 RS and its in perfect condition so I was wondering if my 305 will be fine with this tranny? And would a performance 350 chew it apart?

Thankyou!

The bell housing are different between V6 and V8 so it will not even bolt together. GM builds the transmission according to the engines they are going to be used. A 700R4 behind a V6 may only have 5 clutches in its frist gear clutch pack but a 350 may have 7 clutchs. Even the planetary gears sets can have more gears in a heavier application.
